Issues and Positions
Transparency and Open Government
Leonians are desperate for more open and transparent government. The effects of one-party rule have not been good for Leonia. As council members we are committed to returning the borough government to the people. We will use technology to make council meetings and documents available for public review. We will participate in real and virtual town hall meetings to discuss pressing issues with the citizens of Leonia. We will share our rationale for major decisions affecting the future of Leonia.
Leonia is facing a serious fiscal shortfall and Leonia taxpayers are at the breaking point. Too many of our neighbors are forced to pull up stakes and leave. We will focus on Leonia priorities which must include the ability to say "No!" to expenditures that do not meet priority needs.
Leonia has a rich tapestry of community groups defining the life and the soul of Leonia. Our government should reflect that same focus. Community run activities should not be replaced by paid consultants. It is wrong fiscally and wrong civicly. Economic development in Leonia depends on community development. Our vision of Leonia encourages the growth of community based activies and businesses.
Leonia does not need partisan solutions because we do not have partisan problems. We need to focus on things that work for Leonia and not for who will get credit. Leonia's population is full of dedicated and experienced professionals willing to contribute ideas and solutions for our challenges. We must encourage the involvement of the community to bring the best, common sense ideas forward for the voters to judge by their results.
