Leonia Republicans nominate Stendor and Weimer for Council
June 2, 2009 - Leonia Republicans nominated John F. Stendor and Roland P. Weimer as write-in candidates for borough council in the June 2nd primary. As confirmed by Borough Clerk, Fran Lehmann, both candidates received enough write-in votes to be placed on the November ballot.
“It is time that Leonia, again, receives an independent voice that will take a stand against one party rule.” said Roland P. Weimer announcing his candidacy. “Leonia faces numerous challenges from an ever increasing property tax burden, to encroachment by developments at our borders, to broken promises about the Overpeck Park and the Light Rail station.”
“We look forward to a contest of ideas for a better and brighter future of Leonia. We will, over the coming months, outline our ideas and debate the issues in order to present a true choice and clear alternative.” said John Stendor and Roland Weimer in a statement to the Leonia Taxpayer newsgroup congratulating their opponents.
John Stendor and Roland Weimer were joined by Leonia Republican chairman Anthony Cassano and District 37 chairman Frank Cifarelli in announcing the successful write-in nomination.
